This late 17th century chair demonstrates a radical evolution from Renaissance forms toward grace and comfort. Certainly, the upholstered seat and back take comfort into consideration. The gentle curves on the arms and legs introduce more graceful forms, and, while the chair still relies on stretchers for support, they have graduated from a sober H to a fluid X.
